‘How
good, how amazing, I want to do that one day!’
This was the response we got from many people when we put forward our plans to go to
India for three months. Our mission was to help the poorest of the poor by working
locally with the Mother Theresa Foundation.
We, Joke Rodoe, Mirjam van den Boogert and Jannie de Rijke, are all working in healthcare
in daily life, and have put our words into action. October 2004 we have traveled as
volunteers to Calcutta to join the international aid-community and help homeless
children, work in hospitals, in shelters for mentally and physically handicapped and in
the home for the dying.
We did not just take our hearts and hands, but also shipped a container full of collected
relief supplies, which we have distributed there.
The actions and reactions from our sponsors have helped enormously to realize all our
plans. The Help India Helpen Foundation was formed to create a good basis for organizing
these and future aid programmes.
We have found that apart from the Mother Theresa Foundation, there are many other relief
organizations in Calcutta that deserve and desperately need our help. Therefore we call
upon you to give generously and write a check to our account, 35.66.72.336, because the
Help India Helpen Foundation is moving forward!
The rehabilitation centre, where the poorest children in India get surgical treatments
for orthopedic abnormalities as a result of Polio disease, is subject to our next
project. They urgently need a good ambulance. Our plan is to go to Calcutta
in October 2006 to arrange the purchase of the ambulance there.
